ANG THONG, Thailand – Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Paradorn Prissananantakul visited Ang Thong province on July 4, 2026, to inspect a subsided stone floodwall behind Wat Chai Songkhram in Mueang Ang Thong district. Officials assessed the 70-meter section that collapsed earlier in the week and are working to expedite repairs before the monsoon season. Chairman of the Government Whip Korrawee Prissananantakul, local leaders, and officials from the Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office also participated in the visit. The Minister was informed that specialists from the Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning had inspected the site and assessed the damage. Officials are expected to begin further work next week to survey soil layers and the riverbed in the damaged area, with the findings used to plan repairs.
The Minister directed provincial public works officials and Ang Thong province to coordinate urgently with the Department of Public Works and Town and Country Planning to expedite repairs before the high-water season. He expressed concern that further subsidence could occur if repairs are delayed. The Minister also instructed provincial public works officials to work with local leaders in areas with riverside rock-fill embankments to identify and assess other potential risk points. He emphasized the need to prepare initial preventive measures, noting that these embankments are the first line of defense against water pressure from the Chao Phraya River and have protected many parts of Ang Thong from flooding in the past.
