In 1996 H.M. Queen Sirikit announced her intention to initiate an elephant reintroduction project, to offer an alternative future for domestic elephants, one in which they will live out their remaining life in the forest, away from humans, as nature intended. In accordance with Her Majesty’s wishes the Elephant Reintroduction Foundation was established on August 9th 2002. Recently CEO Pakorn Sukhum (2nd left) and CFO Siroj Prasertphon (left) of the Akara Resources PLC presented a donation of 200,000 baht to the Elephant Reintroduction Foundation, which was received by Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul (2nd right), Secretary of the Chaipattana Foundation and Chairman of the Elephant Reintroduction Foundation, and Sivaporn Dardarananda (right), Director and Secretary General of the foundation.
