
PATTAYA, Thailand – At the Eastern National Indoor Athletics Stadium in Pattaya, Chonburi, Poramet Ngampichet, Mayor of Pattaya City, presided over the opening ceremony of the “Pattaya International Open Taekwondo Championship 2025.” He warmly welcomed participating athletes and was joined by Kim Kyung-Duk, President of the Gyeonggi-do Taekwondo Association from the Republic of Korea, who also delivered remarks.
The competition was held from May 9–10, and marked the fifth consecutive year of collaboration between Pattaya City and the Gyeonggi-do Taekwondo Association. It aimed to develop the skills of young taekwondo athletes in Pattaya and nearby provinces while offering valuable competition experience at an international level.
The event featured two categories: Poomsae (forms) and Kyorugi (sparring), attracting 49 teams and over 1,000 athletes from across Thailand, with more than 3,000 spectators in attendance. The championship served as both a platform for youth development and a boost for local tourism, reinforcing Pattaya’s image as a “Sports City” and a hub for sports tourism in Thailand.
This year’s event was elevated with special prizes awarded to two winning athletes from each category, who will travel to South Korea for 6 days of training and competition. The highlight of the championship was the appearance of Olympic gold medalist “Nong Tennis” Panipak Wongpattanakit, who inspired the young athletes with her presence.

1st Place: RSR Taekwondo, Chonburi
2nd Place: Theerapruk Team
3rd Place: Rangsiyah Gym
Trophies were presented by the Mayor of Pattaya, along with many other awards aimed at encouraging youth participation in sports, fostering talent, and guiding young people toward athletic careers and the productive use of their free time.
