Regents International School in Pattaya opened the gates to its new all-weather pitch for students on Tuesday, January 12.  The 53m x 33m covered Astroturf pitch is the only facility of its kind at an international school on the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand and provides a top quality playing surface for children of all ages, both boarding and day students.

The pitch is the latest project in Regents ‘Big Investment’ in facilities.  It is located adjacent to the air-conditioned double sports hall which opened before Christmas and the all-weather running track which was completed in September 2014.  Next in line is a brand-new learner pool for the 2 to 5 age range: construction work has already started and the pool will open at the beginning of Term 3 (April).

The school’s Director of Sports, Roslyn McConnell, is in no doubt as to the value of the new facilities: “A covered artificial pitch means that sports are available to our students throughout the year, rain or shine.  It also allows us to grow our range of after-school and weekend activities, such as the ever-popular Saturday Sports Academy, and provides another fitness and conditioning surface for students joining as part of the Regents’ new Golf Scholarship Programme,” she commented.
