Friday, Jan 31 Monthly Scramble Phoenix Gold

The monthly scramble at Phoenix Gold golf course was the success it normally is. With 8 teams competing we got away a little earlier than our usual time and had a great day out.

The course is in terrific condition although the greens were not as fast as the normally are. We played the Lake and Ocean loops in beautiful sunshine and with a nice breeze it made for a great day out.

This is a fun day away from serious golf once a month and the usual faces were there to enjoy themselves. The missed putts by Captain Cripple’s group were the bane of their round, with the Captain nearly taking a divot on one hole when a 15-foot putt went 6 feet, much to the mirth of his playing partners. I think by that stage the moose was taking effect.

The scoring was up to the normal standard and the last card in was the winning card. Taking 3rd spot was the team of Arch Armstrong, Gary Ritchie, Chris and Neil Decker with a net score of 59.5.

Second was the team of Paul Greenaway, Paul O’Mahony, Andrew Scaiffe and Steve Dodd with a score of 59 nett.

The winning team of old faces was Willie Mercer, Alistair Aitkin, Daisy May and a fellow we haven’t seen before, Frank Le Cur. These guys scored 57.4 and Willie decided to buy all the golfers present to a drink on him.

Thanks to all who participated today and hopefully we will see you all next month.
