Sunday, April 9, Green Valley – Monthly Medal

1st John Emerson (18) net 66

2nd Eddy Beilby (23) net 67

3rd Jim Brackett (8) net 70

Lewiinskis Golf Society travelled to Green Valley on Sunday to play our monthly medal for April.  The course was in fine condition despite the heavy rains of late and the weather once again was hot and humid.

The man enjoying a purple patch, John Emerson, took the match honours and the medal with a fine net 66.  John will have is name etched on the Lewiinskis wall of shame to go with his whisky goblet.  He was pushed all the way by Eddy ‘the eagle’ Beilby who took the silver podium spot just shot adrift, but he did have the golfing gods on his side today as his second shot on the 11th hole was veering off to the right until the ball was deflected by a stray dog and landed on the green.  Eddy appeared happy but not so much the unlucky dog.

Big Jim Brackett and Mickey ‘nine hole’ Beresford were tied on net 70’s and the following count back gave big Jim the third podium step, leaving Mickey at sea level and potless.

Monday, April 10, Treasure Hill – Stableford

1st John Harrison (13) 31pts

2nd Odd Holm Hansen (25) 28pts

Treasure Hill was the host to a stableford competition with just one flight.  John Harrison took the match honours with 31 points ahead of Odd Holm Hansen with 28.

This is one of the most talked about courses around at the moment and it raises both strong likes and dislikes.  One of the problems is that it is too tight and if you have a fade you can play it well until the 18th when you need a draw.  The split in many respects seems to be between the better golfers and those not so good; most of the better golfers seem to like it.

We actually got round in about three and a half hours as there were hardly any golfers on the course and thankfully the rain did not bothers us.
