Monday, Oct. 17, Bangpra (white tees) – Stableford

2nd Gordon Melia (18) 34pts

3rd Ken Davidson (24) 34pts

A clear day greeted us for a visit to one of our regular venues which is also a favorite of our members.  As always the course was in excellent condition with the greens running true and fast.

PJ Redmond off the silver tees was able to put together his usual controlled round with some fine putts and despite his lack of distance was mostly on the fairways.  Gordon Melia managed to keep Ken Davidson out of second place with 13 points to Ken’s 11 points over the last six holes after both had regulation 18 points over the last nine holes.

On the inward nine some storm clouds gathered and all our players had just handed in their cards when the heavens opened, causing a flood which took hours to subside.

Wednesday, Oct. 19, Treasure Hill (yellow tees) – Stableford

1st Gordon Melia (18) 36pts

2nd Jimmy Carr (18) 35pts

3rd Thomas Nyborg (15) 33pts

Near Pins: Tore Eliassen, Thomas Nyborg, Geoff Parker (2).

There was a good turnout for this course which appeals because of the reasonable rate plus the condition of the layout, which is always testing but playable.

Gordon Melia featured again following up his 34 points on Monday with 36 points today.  Thomas Nyborg was able to deny PJ Redmond a place on the podium with his excellent 21 points on the back nine to PJ’s 17.

Friday, Oct. 21, Crystal Bay B & A (white tees) – Medal

1st Jimmy Carr (18) net 71

2nd Thomas Nyborg net 75

3rd Neil Carter net 77

Near Pins: Les Hall, Thomas Nyborg.

We had a low turnout for this medal round on a course that has tried hard to recover from the dry period, when there were many dry patches which have not yet grown over.  Apart from this the course was well presented with good greens and nicely trimmed fairways.

Jimmy Carr rose to the top scoring a fine 71 net with a controlled game that did not encounter too many problems and saw him mentioned in dispatches for the second time this week.  The short holes were testing with only two of them claimed.
