Billabong played Phoenix Mountain and Ocean loops, with 3 groups and not really anyone else around, so it was away you go. I will say once again the course was in great condition but the rough was brutal. If you miss the short grass it is an effort for everybody just to find the ball let alone hit it. However, the name of the game is don’t go in there, and one or two of the guys didn’t.

The day was overcast with no prospect of rain, so not too hot. Strangely enough there were no twos scored Monday. Last week here we had three and all on the same hole.

Thiery Petrement took 3rd place with 34 points. Malcolm Adamson took 2nd with 36, and Brendon Cope took the top spot with 40 points – 24 of them on the back nine.

He had a chip-in on the 10th for par and 3 points, a 15-foot putt on the 15th for 4 points, another putt of the same distance on the 17th for another 4 points, and at least four putts left 2 inches short of the hole could have been a lot more. It was an impressive display of golf mate, and very well done.
