Although high season is nearly over we had another large group out here at Green Valley for our third monthly medal for this year so we had three flights with the cut for the A flight coming in at thirteen, the B flight at nineteen and the C flight twenty up.

Despite the large group and the fact that the course was in excellent condition and it was a perfect day for golf the scoring wasn’t great, with only one player either playing to or beating their handicap.  That one player was Kevin Blake who had a net seventy to win both the A flight and the monthly medal.  In the B flight Craig Hitchens was the winner with a net seventy four, and Peter Henshaw took the C flight honours with a net seventy four.

Tuesday, March 13, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

We had 21 players today at course in very good condition.  We all played from the white tees and had 2 divisions – up to 15 & 16+.  In A division it was a count-back to decide the winner and with the better back nine first place went to Andy Featherstone (4) with 38 points ahead of Kevyn Wright (15) on the same score.  In third place was Craig Hitchens (14) with 34 points.

Continuing his good form of late, Joe Peters (22) topped the podium in B division with 36 points.  Second place went to Donal McGuigan (20) with 34 and George Pearson (21) was third on 33.

Dan Hobbs & Andy Featherstone shared the 2’s today.

Thursday, March 15, Bangpra – 2M Stableford

We held our 12th annual 4-ball stableford game for the coveted St. Patrick’s Day trophy and had 32 players tee it up on a course in good condition, with greens a bit slower than normal.

First place went to the pairing of Andy Featherstone (4) & Kevyn Wright (15) with a great 45 points.  In a last minute change of partners due to unforeseen circumstances, second place was awarded to Gus Guidetti (10) & Jimmy Traynor (28) on 43 points while Joe McArdle (16) & Joe Peters(22) won a three-way count-back to take third place on the podium with 39 points.

The near pin prizes went to Jean Fok Chak, Kevin Blake, Kevyn Wright and John McGarry.  Jean & John also converted their good tee shots to have the only 2’s for the day.  The mystery prize (last place) was won (lost) by Callum Mackie & Neil Ballard.
