PATTAYA, Thailand – At the Royal Cliff Resort, Swiss expatriate associations and clubs in Chonburi and Pattaya hosted a reception for H.E. Mr. Pedro Zwahlen, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Thailand, and his delegation on October 3. The visit aimed to strengthen cooperation across diplomatic, economic, tourism, and consular matters, focusing on supporting Swiss nationals residing in the region.
The meeting provided a platform not only to enhance bilateral relations but also to explore ways to improve the quality of life for Swiss residents in Pattaya and Chonburi. Discussions included facilitating daily living, healthcare services, and infrastructure development tailored to the needs of the expatriate community.
Currently, approximately 30,000 Thais reside in Switzerland under 22 Thai associations, while over 10,000 Swiss nationals live in Thailand, with Pattaya and Chonburi being key residential hubs. Switzerland has also supported Thailand in becoming an international medical hub and a global health tourism destination, reinforcing investment, tourism, and high-standard care for foreign residents.
This visit marks an important step in bridging diplomatic, economic, and tourism cooperation, benefiting both Thailand–Switzerland relations and reinforcing Pattaya’s status as an international city conducive to a high quality of life for locals and expatriates alike.
