Mailbag: Pattaya needs bright colored baht busses and a light house

Dear Editor,

I’m not sure if the powers that be in Pattaya ever read Pattaya Mail or letters to it but anyway, I would like to submit a couple of suggestions that I think might help the city (now my home town) look a bit better, if not interesting:

  1. I suggest that all the baht buses be painted in attractive bright colors reflecting the seaside theme. Some of the buses could be painted pink, others green, light blue, yellow, etc.  Even the colors of the gay flag which would attest to Pattaya’s Pride support, not just during the month of June but the entire year. Today I saw a baht bus that was not the usual dark blue but a pink color which looked very nice.  Maybe it was a renegade.
  2. I suggest that the city consider building a light house at the north end of Pattaya Beach atop the mound of stones that have been placed, I assume, as wave breakers (beside Dusit Resort). The light house could be an attraction for tourists and could be built so that one could climb to the top for a good view of the bay.  The lighthouse could even have a rotating sign that could say “Welcome to Pattaya” or even be used for advertising events or even ads for companies who would pay for the advertising.

These are my humble suggestions and I hope that they could somehow be conveyed to the Mayor’s office.

With many thanks and kind regards,
L. Roger Braden
