The Amari Pattaya prepped its employees on how to respond to high-rise fires at its annual fire-preparedness drill.

More than 200 employees took part in the Sept. 5 training conducted by the Pattaya Disaster Prevention & Mitigation Department to educate workers on evacuations from high-rise buildings.

The training program included basic fire knowledge with practical training in the afternoon. That included using a canvas chute for quick evacuation from the seventh floor of the Ocean Tower.

Participants also were taught various methods of how to use fire extinguishers, choose exits and who to contact in case of a real fire. Special attention was paid to fires fueled by liquid petroleum gas, including steps on how to safely handle the LPG.
