A student from Garden International School (GIS) has won the Amnesty International Young Journalist of the Year 2015 competition.

The Thai branch of Amnesty International ran the competition in international schools across Thailand. Nupur, aged 12, was the overall winner in the Under 18 category, an amazing achievement for such a young student. Nupur wrote a moving story about womens rights.

As well as Nupur’s triumph, other GIS students did well. Seren in Year 10 and Reha in Year 11 were both placed in the top 7 of the Under 18 category.

The competition is seen as important as it encourages students to know more about real-life issues and teaches them how to write engaging, interesting articles about important matters.
