Winter breathes its last gasp

Winter wasn’t ready to give up last week as cool air floated over Pattaya again for a weekend.

Strong winds helped bring temperatures down Feb. 7-8 and both locals and tourists could be seen wearing long sleeves and jackets, some thicker than others.

Europeans got a chuckle at Thais bundled up with parkas and scarves, as, to them, temps in the teens are a delight, not a freeze. But even the snowbirds weren’t eager to take a dip in the ocean for several days.

Both locals and tourists could be seen wearing long sleeves and jackets as temps dipped down to unseasonable levels again last week.

The thermometer hit around 17 degrees Celsius at night and the mid-20s during the daytime, slowing creeping up toward normal as the week went on.

Long-time visitors and expats planned to enjoy the cool weather while it lasted, knowing the scorching days of April are just a few weeks away.
