Walking Street gets pre-Songkran scrub

Pattaya gave Walking Street a good scrubbing before next week’s Songkran party begins.

Public Health official Sanya Taptimsri led the team of cleaners to the South Pattaya nightlife strip March 28. A water truck hosed down the street while workers swept away dirt and garbage.

The cleanliness will be short-lived, as the street will be caked in powder during the New Year’s festival.

Walking Street will host the city’s official Songkran Festival April 12-20 and has been designated a “Happy Zone” by police to give tourists a good impression of the city.
