A Thai woman in Chiang Rai alleges her former foreign partner secretly recorded and distributed private images online without consent.

CHIANG RAI, Thailand – A 62-year-old Thai woman has filed a complaint after alleging that her former partner, a 75-year-old New Zealand man, secretly recorded intimate videos and photos of her and later distributed them online without consent, June 24. The woman, identified as “Aoy,” said she had lived with the foreign man in Chiang Rai for more than nine years before their relationship ended. She claimed she only later discovered that private images and videos had been taken without her knowledge and shared on websites overseas, along with misleading text suggesting illegal services, which led to strangers contacting her.

Aoy said she began receiving phone calls and messages from unknown individuals attempting to contact her after her personal information and images were allegedly circulated online. She added that she was shocked to find explicit images of herself online after being alerted by callers, and later confirmed that the material had been linked to her former partner. According to her statement, she later sought technical help to investigate the man’s computer and allegedly found a large number of stored images, including those of other women, which were also reportedly uploaded and shared on foreign websites.

The woman said her former partner eventually admitted to secretly recording their intimate moments and distributing the content online, including adding personal identification details. After the content was removed, she decided to end the relationship and has since urged other Thai women in relationships with foreigners to carefully research their partners’ backgrounds to avoid similar situations.

Alleged intimate photos and videos were later removed after the former partner reportedly admitted to the actions.
