Police spokesman Pol. Lt. Gen. Achayon Kraithong outlines procedures for victims to request the unlocking of temporarily frozen bank accounts nationwide.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Thailand’s police received more than 600 requests to unlock temporarily frozen bank accounts nationwide over September 17–18, authorities confirmed. The increase followed a directive from Police Commissioner General Kittirat Phunpetch to standardize procedures for handling complaints about frozen accounts across all stations.

Victims must provide five key pieces of information for verification: full name, ID number, phone number, bank account number, and bank name. Verified requests are forwarded to the Police Cyber Crime Suppression Center (PCT) and then to the AOC Center for rapid unlocking. Accounts linked to criminal activity remain under strict legal enforcement.

Statistics showed 430 complainants filed 618 account requests. On September 17, 285 accounts were requested, and 333 on September 18, a 15% increase. Of these, 109 individuals with 128 accounts were linked to cases, while 322 individuals with 473 accounts were under review. Seventeen accounts were successfully unlocked during this period.

The highest volume of complaints came from Police Region 4, followed by the 1599 hotline and Police Region 3. The main reasons for unlocking requests included personal accounts (359), business accounts (78), payroll accounts (74), and other types (90).

The public is reminded that account unlock requests can be submitted at any police station, via the AOC hotline 1441, or through the 1599 police hotline. (TNA)
