A 17-year-old teen was fatally shot in Pattaya after following a rival group of youths in an attempt to settle a dispute, highlighting growing concerns over youth violence in the city.

PATTAYA, Thailand – A 17-year-old, identified as “Ah” (pseudonym), died after being shot in the chest early on November 2, 2025. The incident occurred on the Pong Road heading toward Khao Mai Kaew in Pong Subdistrict, East Pattaya.

According to witnesses, a group of three teenagers on motorcycles had verbally harassed younger teens. One of the younger teens, a 13-year-old boy, rode to inform his older brother, “Ae” (17), who then followed the group with Ah riding as a passenger. The older teens were unaware whether the group on the road was involved in the earlier confrontation.

As they encountered the rival group, one of the teenagers reportedly pulled out a small gun resembling a pen and fired a single shot, striking Ah in the back. Friends rushed him to Pattaya Bhattamakun Hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries.

Eyewitnesses confirmed there was no prior conflict between the deceased and the shooters. Authorities have received video footage from local residents capturing the perpetrators returning to the scene, which will be used as evidence.

Police at Huai Yai Station are investigating and are working to track down the individuals responsible.
