BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi Airport has issued a formal apology after a security incident on 29 July 2026 involving a group of Chinese fans. According to the airport’s statement, a group of 22 Chinese celebrity fans entered restricted areas, including the airport lounge and the boarding bridge for Thai Airways flight TG 674, without valid boarding passes or proper authorization. As a result, the airline denied the group boarding.
During the process of managing the situation, 10 individuals did not comply with requests to remove their baggage from the restricted area, leading to a confrontation with security personnel that was recorded and shared on social media. Suvarnabhumi Airport acknowledged that some security officers’ conduct during the incident did not meet the airport’s operational standards. Commander Chanannat Rodkul, Security Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport, has ordered disciplinary action against the officers involved. In its statement, the airport apologized for the incident and said it will review and strengthen its security and operational protocols to help prevent similar situations in the future. (PRD)
