PATTAYA, Thailand – Unstable weather conditions are expected to continue across eastern Thailand, including Pattaya, as seasonal summer storms develop in several areas over the next 24 hours, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.

Forecasters say parts of the eastern region may experience thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, and occasional lightning as a westerly trough moving from Myanmar interacts with a moderate high-pressure system spreading from China across the Northeast, the East, and the Gulf of Thailand.

For Pattaya and surrounding coastal areas of Chonburi, the weather is expected to remain hot and humid with a chance of scattered thunderstorms. Sudden gusts of wind and brief heavy downpours may occur in some locations, particularly during the afternoon and evening.

Residents and visitors are advised to stay alert during storm activity and avoid open spaces, large trees, unstable structures, and billboards where strong winds could pose a danger.

Local farmers in the region are also being advised to secure fruit trees and protect crops and livestock from potential storm damage as rapidly changing weather conditions could affect agricultural production.

Across Thailand’s southern region, thunderstorms and isolated heavy rain are expected as easterly and northeasterly winds continue to prevail over the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea. Waves in the lower Gulf may reach 1–2 meters, and could exceed 2 meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Mariners are urged to avoid sailing in storm-affected areas.

Meanwhile, air quality across much of the country remains in the good to moderate range thanks to improved air circulation.

In the Pattaya area, temperatures are expected to range between about 24–26°C at night and 32–35°C during the day, with the possibility of thunderstorms covering roughly 30 percent of the area.
