PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has warned of heavy rainfall across much of the country this week, with the South, East, and Bangkok expected to face the most severe weather. The strong monsoon trough currently crossing central and eastern Thailand is bringing widespread storms, while Typhoon Kalmaegi—now moving across the western Pacific—is forecast to enter the South China Sea between November 4–5 before making landfall in central Vietnam on November 6–7.

Although upper Thailand will see slightly reduced rainfall, heavy showers remain likely in parts of Bangkok, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Kanchanaburi, Suphanburi, and Nakhon Pathom. Residents are urged to stay alert for flash floods and water accumulation in low-lying areas.

A moderate high-pressure system from China is also spreading over the Northeast, bringing cooler morning temperatures and mild winds. Farmers are advised to prepare for weather-related crop damage, and motorists should exercise caution on slippery roads.

In the South, scattered thunderstorms and isolated heavy rain are expected, especially along coastal provinces. Waves in the upper Andaman Sea will reach 1–2 meters and may exceed 2 meters during storms, while the Gulf of Thailand will also experience rough seas. The TMD has urged all boat operators to proceed with caution and avoid sailing in stormy areas.
