NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, Thailand – Truckers and southern residents gathered in Nakhon Si Thammarat province on Thursday ahead of a planned weekend convoy to Government House in Bangkok, demanding fuel price caps and government action to curb rising living costs.

Demonstrators assembled in in Cha-uat district, drawing supporters from nearby districts and surrounding southern provinces, including Phatthalung, Songkhla, and the three southern border provinces.

The movement, organized by the People’s Revolutionary Coalition to Protect the Land and Citizens Affected by the High Cost of Living, serves as the first staging point for the rally. Organizers expect at least 300 trucks and civilian vehicles to join at this location, with cars currently parked along a several-hundred-meter stretch of Phetkasem Road.

Protesters at the site emphasized that the gathering is peaceful, aiming to seek government relief from high living costs driven by elevated fuel prices. Plainclothes and uniformed police officers were deployed to monitor the situation closely. Traffic through the intersection remained navigable despite heavy roadside parking. (TNA)
