PATTAYA, Thailand – Visitors heading into Pattaya during Songkran are being advised to prepare for intense nighttime water battles and heavy road congestion, especially across the city’s busiest beachfront zones.
Areas along Beach Road, particularly Soi 6, Soi 7, and Soi 8, have turned into nonstop water-throwing zones well into the late hours. Even after dark, large crowds—mostly international tourists—continue splashing water, walking through packed streets, and fueling a high-energy party atmosphere that shows little sign of slowing down.
Stretching nearly a kilometer along the beachfront, dense clusters of people fill the streets, making movement slow and, at times, difficult. Vehicles struggle to pass through, with traffic frequently reduced to a crawl due to the sheer number of pedestrians and ongoing water play spilling onto the roads.
For incoming visitors, this means planning ahead is essential. Expect delays, avoid driving through peak zones if possible, and be prepared to get wet at any hour—whether walking, riding, or even sitting in traffic. Waterproofing personal belongings and using caution on slippery roads are strongly recommended.
The intensity is expected to build further as Pattaya approaches its peak “Wan Lai” celebrations from April 17–19. Major events will take place along Pattaya Beach, with Naklua hosting festivities on April 18 and central Pattaya on April 19, drawing even larger crowds.
While the atmosphere remains fun and vibrant, the scale of celebrations means visitors should stay alert, patient, and prepared for both the excitement—and the challenges—that come with Songkran in Pattaya.
