A Nongprue woman who has cared for her disabled son alone for 17 years is finding it harder and harder to make ends meet.

Paovana Cheunjit, 47 of Soi Baan Lang in Nongprue, said she was married for 30 years and had two children. The eldest son was 25 years old and already married. The younger child, Surasak, has mental and physical impairments from an accident when he was 10 years old.

Her husband died of bone cancer when the boy was two.

Paovana said she cannot afford to place Surasak in a care facility, so she must care for him herself. As a result, she cannot work full-time, but does get help once a week from her older son.

Nongprue Sub-district does provide food and diapers for Surasak monthly, but it still is not enough, she said.

She is accepting any donations available. To help, call Paovana at 089-932-4158.
