BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow is set to visit Malaysia from September 6 to 7 to follow up on issues discussed during Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s official visit in July. The visit will cover border security, infrastructure development, and economic connectivity between Thailand and Malaysia. Sihasak will be accompanied by National Intelligence Agency Director Thanut Suvarnananda, who also heads Thailand’s Peace Dialogue Panel for the Southern Border Provinces. Thanut will meet Malaysian counterparts to establish closer working-level coordination on the peace dialogue process.
Sihasak is scheduled to meet the Malaysian foreign minister to discuss security and development along the shared border. Talks will include infrastructure improvements and measures to facilitate cross-border travel and economic activity while improving coordination between relevant authorities. The two sides will also discuss additional fencing along sections of the Thailand–Malaysia border to help prevent and intercept illegal activities. The discussions will address security and economic development in parallel, supporting safer border communities, better connectivity, and increased economic opportunities on both sides.
