BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Commerce announced on Wednesday that major e-commerce platforms Shopee, TikTok Shop, and Lazada have agreed to temporarily reduce mandatory sales fees for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to lower business operating costs. Under the agreement, the three platforms will revert mandatory fee rates—including commission, infrastructure, and transaction fees—to levels charged at the start of 2026. The six-month relief measure will run from Dec. 1, 2026, to May 31, 2027.
Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun stated that the fee reductions are expected to save local business operators approximately 1.93 billion baht ($57 million) and benefit around 1.2 million registered SMEs and individual sellers. The initiative follows complaints from small retailers regarding multiple fee increases earlier in the year. Authorities are also holding talks with ride-hailing and food delivery platforms to seek similar fee reductions. (TNA)
