Chonburi has readied an army of police, soldiers and volunteers to maintain security at this week’s mirror royal cremation ceremony.

Gov. Pakarathorn Thienchai outlined the security plans for the Oct. 25-27 period at an Oct. 13 meeting.

The province will host one of dozens of mirror ceremonies around the country allowing people to pay final respects to HM the late King Rama IX outside the provincial hall.

An operations center was set up nearby with the entire area covered by closed-circuit cameras and a rapid-deployment unit in case of emergencies.

Traffic around the provincial hall will be closed off and 2,500 parking spaces will be provided for the Oct. 26 ceremony.
