Development of the pier commenced in October when the National Council for Peace and Order directed the removal of trailered boats and illegal structures at the 18-rai pier.

Now that they are cleared out, it was obvious that the area needed to be renovated for future events and to facilitate the International Fleet Show taking place in November.

Aphiratch said the first stage was 90 percent complete and said boat operators and others had cooperated satisfactorily.
