PWA customer service chief Nonthawat Wongsuwanich said April 7 that the utility is aware of the many complaints by Pattaya residents about repeated water-main breaks, but there is little the PWA can do, as they are waiting for delivery of new pipes to replace old and damaged ones.

Nonthawat said the line breaks have been occurring because the utility raised water pressure to respond to complaints about low-pressure or no water at all. However, some sections of Pattaya have old and damaged pipes that can’t take the increased pressure.

The utility is waiting for delivery of new pipes to replace the old and expects work will be completed in three or four months.
