PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department reports heavy rain in the North, Northeast, East, and Western South regions, warning residents to beware of flash floods and sudden landslides, especially in mountainous and low-lying areas. These conditions are influenced by the monsoon trough stretching over northern Laos and Vietnam, combined with a strengthening southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

Waves in the upper Andaman Sea are rising to about 2 meters, with higher waves over 2 meters in stormy areas, while the lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand see waves of 1–2 meters, increasing above 2 meters in thunderstorms. Mariners are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid sailing in stormy conditions.

Meanwhile, Typhoon Podul is currently developing over the Pacific Ocean and is expected to pass over Taiwan before making landfall on China’s eastern coast around August 13–14. Authorities confirm the typhoon will not affect Thailand.

Pattaya and other parts of the country can expect to remain safe from the typhoon’s impact, though localized heavy rains and rough seas may continue due to seasonal monsoon effects.
