PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City is preparing to partner with the Thailand Wheelchair Fencing Association to host the “2026 Para Fencing World Cup Pattaya, Thailand,” a major international para-sport event set to take place from August 30 to September 2, 2026.

The plan was discussed during a meeting chaired by Mayor Poramet Ngampichet at City Hall, alongside senior city officials and representatives from the association, who presented details of the proposed competition.

The tournament has been officially granted to Thailand by World Para Fencing, marking a significant opportunity to elevate Thai para-athletes to international standards while boosting Pattaya’s profile as a global sports destination.

Organizers have proposed using the Eastern National Sports Training Center in Pattaya as the main venue, with the city expected to support logistics, facilities, and security to ensure smooth operations.

Mayor Poramet welcomed the initiative, confirming Pattaya’s readiness to co-host and provide full support. He also called for further coordination with relevant agencies to prepare for the event and ensure it meets international standards.

The event is expected to attract athletes, officials, and visitors from around the world, reinforcing Pattaya’s ambition to position itself as a leading “Sports City” on the global stage.

Wheelchair fencing, a fast-paced and highly skilled para sport, will take center stage in Pattaya as the city prepares to host a global World Cup event in 2026.
