PATTAYA, Thailand – While much of the country braces for heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon and the looming influence of Typhoon Ragasa, Pattaya residents continue to endure sweltering heat under blazing skies.

On September 23, daytime temperatures in Pattaya are expected to soar to 34–36°C, with only brief and scattered showers providing relief compared to the heavier downpours forecast for northern and northeastern provinces. The combination of high humidity and intense sunshine is likely to leave locals and visitors seeking refuge in shopping malls, beachfront cafés, and air-conditioned spaces.

Street vendors and motorbike taxi drivers were seen shielding themselves with towels and umbrellas, while other beachgoers cut short their seaside visits as the midday sun turned the sand scorching hot. Health officials have reminded residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor activities, and be cautious of heat-related illnesses such as dehydration and heatstroke.

Looking ahead, meteorologists forecast that Pattaya may see occasional thunderstorms later this week as Typhoon Ragasa strengthens monsoonal activity. However, the overall outlook suggests that the city will remain uncomfortably hot, with temperatures staying well above 33°C throughout the week.

For now, the coastal resort town is caught between a humid monsoon atmosphere and the relentless tropical sun—a reminder that even during Thailand’s rainy season, Pattaya often feels more like an oven than a seaside escape.
