PATTAYA, Thailand – The Meteorological Department reports that southern Thailand is experiencing heavy rainfall in some areas, while upper regions, including Pattaya, will see only light showers. Bangkok and its metropolitan area are expected to have a 40% chance of thunderstorms.
Over the next 24 hours, easterly winds covering the Gulf of Thailand, the country, and the Andaman Sea will keep rain light in the upper regions. Residents in the South are advised to take precautions against heavy rain, thunderstorms, and potential flash floods. Coastal areas in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand may see waves around one meter high, rising above two meters in stormy areas, so small boats should avoid sailing during severe weather.
Tropical Storm Fengchen, currently over the northern South China Sea, is expected to strengthen and move near southern Hainan Island, China, and central Vietnam from October 21–23. The storm will weaken quickly due to cold air descending from China and will not directly affect Thailand.
In Pattaya, residents can expect light rain, with temperatures ranging from 25–26°C in the morning to highs of 33–35°C.
