PATTAYA, Thailand – The Meteorological Department has released its updated daily rainfall accumulation forecast for the 15-day period from October 3 to 17, highlighting shifting weather patterns as Thailand moves from the rainy season into early winter.

From October 3 to 5: Rainfall is expected to decrease overall, with only scattered showers remaining across all regions. Heavy rain that had persisted in recent weeks is easing, allowing many areas to begin recovery.

From October 5 to 7: Rainfall is forecast to return, with some areas experiencing moderate to heavy downpours. This increase is linked to a low-pressure cell and the indirect influence of Tropical Storm Matmo, which is projected to make landfall in southern China. While the storm will not directly hit Thailand, it will intensify the southwest monsoon affecting the country.

From October 8 onward: Signs of a cold air mass will begin to spread southward, shifting prevailing winds to the east and northeast. Weather conditions will remain unstable, with cool mornings and evenings, hot afternoons, and some rainfall. Residents in Northern and upper Northeastern Thailand will experience cooler mornings, while rainfall continues to decline, marking the transition toward the winter season.

Authorities urge the public to take precautions during this period of fluctuating weather, particularly to safeguard their health against illness caused by rain and cooler conditions. (NNT)
