PATTAYA, Thailand While the Thai baht has shown some fluctuations recently, opening at 32.79 per US dollar on October 24, analysts say the currency’s swings are unlikely to deter foreign tourists from visiting Pattaya.

Krungthai Global Markets noted that the baht has strengthened slightly from the previous close at 32.87, moving in a sideways pattern influenced by global factors such as US inflation data, PMI reports, and trade negotiations between the US and China. Meanwhile, the price of gold has rebounded sharply, adding further volatility to the baht.

Despite these financial movements, Pattaya’s hotels are seeing a steady trickle of prebookings, gradually filling rooms as tourists secure their stays ahead of arrival. Local hotel managers report that many long-term visitors and holidaymakers appear to prioritize the city’s attractions, beaches, and events over short-term currency fluctuations. “Tourists are not coming for the exchange rate; they come for the experience,” said one manager. “We’re seeing bookings grow day by day, even with the baht moving.”

Travel agencies and online booking platforms confirm similar trends, noting that international tourists are increasingly locking in accommodations in advance to avoid last-minute price surges. The gradual increase in hotel occupancy signals that Pattaya’s hospitality sector is beginning to recover robustly, despite broader economic uncertainties.

With key economic data from the US and Europe expected in the coming days, market watchers anticipate that the baht may continue to see minor ups and downs. However, the city’s tourism sector expects stable arrivals, driven by Thailand’s strong infrastructure, accessible flights, and Pattaya’s reputation as a leisure destination.

Analysts highlight that while the baht’s movement may affect individual spending, it does not significantly alter overall tourist numbers. Hotels, resorts, and entertainment venues are adapting with flexible packages, promotions, and value-added services to keep the city attractive for international travelers.
