Pattaya encouraged residents to paint coconuts that are being hung around the city to brighten the depressed pandemic atmosphere.

Mayor Sonthaya Kunplome presided over the hanging of the first coconuts fashioned into windchimes along Pattaya Beach May 31.

The “Fresh Pattaya City Encouraging One Another” campaign cosponsored by the Pattaya Culture Council and Pattaya Business & Tourism Association saw Pattaya buy coconuts from local growers and distribute them to business owners and residents to paint at home.

The finished artwork then was collected and made into windchimes to hang on trees on Beach Road and Jomtien Beach Road.

The goal is to liven up Pattaya, which has been depressed due to the coronavirus economic shutdown.
