PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya and surrounding coastal areas are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall and strong sea conditions this week, as the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issues its 10th weather advisory of 2026 warning of widespread unstable conditions across Thailand. According to the announcement, a strong monsoon trough is currently extending across upper northern and northeastern Thailand, combined with an intensified southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. The system is expected to bring continuous rainfall, with some areas facing intense downpours and accumulated rainfall that may lead to flash floods and runoff, particularly in low-lying and hillside areas.
For Pattaya and the eastern seaboard, the warning highlights periods of heavy rainfall that may disrupt travel, outdoor activities, and tourism operations over the coming days. Authorities have urged residents and visitors to remain cautious, especially in areas prone to water accumulation and temporary flooding during peak rainfall. Marine conditions are also expected to deteriorate significantly. The upper Andaman Sea is forecast to experience waves of 2–3 meters, with thunderstorms pushing wave heights above 3 meters. In the lower Andaman and upper Gulf of Thailand, waves are expected to reach around 2 meters, rising higher during storm activity.
Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are advised to remain ashore during the warning period, while all vessels operating in both the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand are urged to proceed with extreme caution and avoid storm-affected areas. Officials are advising the public in Pattaya to monitor weather updates closely and plan travel carefully, as sudden downpours may affect road conditions and coastal safety. The Meteorological Department continues to recommend close attention to official forecasts via its website and 24-hour hotline services. The warning remains in effect from July 1 to July 3, with authorities emphasizing preparedness as Thailand enters a period of intensified monsoon activity.
