PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya is being warned to prepare for bouts of heavy rainfall and strong winds over the coming days, as Thailand’s weather bureau has issued nationwide alerts for severe weather.
The Meteorological Department forecasts thunderstorms across Bangkok and surrounding provinces with a 60% chance of rain, while the eastern region — including Chonburi — will face particularly heavy downpours. The monsoon trough is strengthening over northern and northeastern Thailand, combining with a southwest monsoon covering the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea.
For Pattaya residents and visitors, this means a mix of hot and humid daytime weather — with temperatures peaking at around 33–34°C — followed by sudden, potentially intense rain showers. The risk of flash flooding in low-lying areas, as well as rough seas along the eastern seaboard, is elevated.
Small boats are advised to remain ashore, while larger vessels should navigate with caution, particularly during thunderstorms when waves could exceed two meters in height.
Local authorities are urging residents in flood-prone and coastal areas to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rain. Tourists are also advised to plan accordingly, as strong winds and showers may disrupt beach activities and boat tours.
While Typhoon Ragasa is not expected to make landfall in Thailand, its influence is strengthening monsoon conditions, making the period from September 24–26 one of heightened risk.
