PATTAYA, Thailand – The long New Year holiday brought a surge of tourists to Pattaya Beach, keeping massage workers along the coastline busy from sunrise to sunset. From December 31 to January 4, visitors flocked to Jomtien Beach and surrounding areas, with many stopping to relax under beach umbrellas and enjoy traditional Thai massages.
Massage service providers reported full schedules throughout the holiday period, catering mainly to Thai and European tourists who came in groups, often by bus. Despite the large crowds, operators maintained standard rates, ensuring services remained affordable while handling the high demand.
“Our hands have hardly stopped working all day,” said one long-time beach massage worker. “Even during the busiest hours, we keep up with the continuous flow of customers, and it’s rewarding to see so many happy faces leaving our chairs.”
The holiday boom not only provided steady income but also highlighted the importance of massage as a key occupation along Pattaya Beach. Many workers rely on these peak periods to sustain their livelihoods, combining skill, stamina, and personal interaction to offer a quintessential Pattaya experience.
Operators noted that while international tourists were fewer than in past high seasons, the steady flow of domestic and regional visitors ensured a lively atmosphere. The bustling massage stations along the beach, often lined with umbrellas and sun loungers, created a vibrant scene, blending relaxation with economic activity for local workers.
“Holiday periods like this show how essential massage services are to the Pattaya beach experience,” said a massage station operator. “It’s not just about the tourists enjoying themselves – it’s about supporting our community, our families, and keeping this occupation alive.”
