PATTAYA, Thailand – A Russian tourist was left shaken after a motorcycle-riding thief snatched her shoulder bag while she was walking along Soi Pattaya Park or Thappraya 12 on Tuesday night, June 12, making off with her passport, cash, and mobile phone. Police from Pattaya City Police Station were notified of the incident at approximately 8:12 p.m. on June 16 and quickly dispatched officers to investigate. The victim, a Russian woman whose identity was not immediately released, told police through a Thai friend acting as an interpreter that she had been walking alone along the street when a slim-built Thai man riding a motorcycle approached from behind.

According to her account, the suspect, who was wearing a full-face helmet and riding an unidentified motorcycle, suddenly grabbed her shoulder bag before accelerating away from the scene. Inside the stolen bag were her passport, approximately 700-800 baht in cash, around US$200, and a Huawei mobile phone. Witnesses and nearby residents rushed to assist the distressed tourist following the incident. Several Thai bystanders helped contact police and provided translation assistance, enabling officers to respond and gather information quickly despite the language barrier.

Investigators and patrol officers inspected the scene and have begun reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras in an effort to identify the suspect and trace his escape route. Police have advised the victim to file a formal report at the Dongtan police reporting center and are coordinating with relevant agencies regarding the replacement of her passport and other lost documents. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to track down the motorcycle-riding thief and recover the stolen property.
