A Russian man faces narcotics charges and deportation after being caught with both marijuana and a long-expired visa.
Sergey Buchakov, 33, was picked up by Chonburi Immigration Police Nov. 23 at the Jomtien Season House. A search uncovered a bag of ganja.
A closer look at the Russian’s passport, however, revealed he had overstayed his visa by 354 days. He entered Thailand on Sept. 5, 2014 and only had been permitted to stay three months.
He was charged with possession of a Category 5 drug and will be processed for legal charges and possible deportation.
