Nongprue officials have launched a campaign to tidy up the sub-district, ordering illegal and oversized advertising signs removed across East Pattaya.

Pol. Sgt. Maj. Charoen Wiengsima, head of the municipal police, launched the crackdown March 4 on signs posted on electricity poles, walls, buildings, trees and other public places. He said the large number of signs block the scenery and make the area look ugly.

Municipal officers take down advertising signs along the roads in the Nongprue area.

Specifically targeted are the East Pattaya sois of Nernplabwan, Soi Siam Country Club, Nongprue, Mabyailia, Nongsamoh, Khao Noi, and Khao Talo.

The signs mainly belong to property brokers, companies, condominiums, hotels, attractions and services, he said. Some are oversized, blocking others or a particular view, and some are out of date but left in place.

Those erecting illegal signs are liable for fines of 1,000-2,000 baht, he said.
