
NAN, Thailand — Nan Nakhon Airport remains open and flights are operating normally despite flash flooding in Nan province, with authorities urging passengers to allow extra time to reach the airport, August 20. Deputy Transport Minister Phattharapong Phattharaprasit expressed concern for residents affected by the flooding and instructed the Department of Airports to provide assistance and ensure passenger safety.
Authorities said Nan Nakhon Airport continues to handle arriving and departing flights normally. The airport and airlines have also been instructed to assist passengers who are unable to travel or need to change their plans because of the flooding. Thai AirAsia, operating flights under the FD code, is offering affected passengers one free flight change on the same route. The new travel date must be within 30 days of the original departure date and is subject to seat availability.
Passengers may also choose to retain the ticket value as travel credit, with a new booking allowed within two years from the date the credit is approved. Nok Air, operating under the DD code, is offering one flight change within one month of the original travel date, with change fees and fare differences waived. Passengers may also change to a nearby airport under the same conditions.
Nok Air is additionally offering travel credit equivalent to the ticket value, which must be used within 90 days.
The airlines said all assistance is subject to their respective terms and conditions, and affected passengers should contact the airlines directly for details. Passengers scheduled to travel during the flooding are advised to check road conditions and traffic routes before leaving for the airport and allow at least three to four hours for the journey.
Department of Airports Director-General Danai Ruangsorn said officials are continuously monitoring the situation and assessing its impact to provide passengers with timely information if conditions deteriorate.
