PATTAYA, Thailand – Thailand is expected to continue experiencing widespread rainfall with heavy to very heavy showers in some areas, driven by a strengthening southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and across the country. Authorities have warned of flash floods, runoff from hillsides, and rising water levels in low-lying areas due to persistent rainfall and accumulated precipitation. For coastal areas like Pattaya, the weather system is expected to bring intermittent heavy rain, strong winds, and unstable sea conditions over the coming days. While Pattaya is not in the worst-hit southern west coast zone, the broader monsoon influence means sudden downpours and rougher nearshore waves are likely, especially during thunderstorms.
Sea conditions across the upper Andaman are forecast to be particularly severe, with wave heights reaching 2–3 metres and even higher in thunderstorm areas. Although Pattaya lies on the Gulf side, nearby eastern coastal waters may still experience choppy seas, affecting small boat operations, ferry schedules, and beach activities. Local tourism operators in Pattaya may see disruptions to outdoor plans, beach events, and water sports as weather conditions fluctuate. Sudden rain showers can reduce foot traffic along Beach Road and tourist zones, while overcast skies and strong winds may also impact short-term visitor activity. Officials continue to urge caution for travellers and residents, particularly in low-lying and coastal zones, as the monsoon system remains active before gradually easing later in the forecast period.
