BANGKOK, Thailand – A food delivery rider has described the terrifying moment a red-plated Mercedes-Benz went on a rampage along Srinakarin Road in Wang Thonglang district, Bangkok, crashing into multiple vehicles and damaging at least eight cars on June 30 after the driver allegedly lost control following a breakup with his partner. The incident, which went viral after being shared on Facebook, showed a bronze-grey Mercedes-Benz colliding repeatedly with vehicles along the road, leaving wreckage in its path and causing panic among motorists. Witnesses said the driver appeared to be in a highly agitated emotional state during the incident.

One eyewitness, 36-year-old delivery rider Ridwan Khemthong, said he was waiting for an order when he first heard loud crashing sounds. The vehicle reportedly continued speeding forward and struck additional cars before finally coming to a stop, leaving eight vehicles damaged and two people injured. Police from Wang Thonglang Police Station responded to the scene and initially suspected the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol. However, officers later confirmed no alcohol smell was detected, and subsequent tests found no alcohol or narcotics in the driver’s system. The driver, a man in his 30s, was found crying and visibly shaken at the scene. He allegedly told witnesses that he had just been informed by his wife that she was ending their relationship, which caused him to lose control and act on impulse.

The witness said he helped calm the driver and advised him not to take personal problems out on others, adding that the man later agreed to compensate all victims for the damage caused.

Police have charged the driver with reckless driving causing injury and property damage. Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and will summon all parties for further questioning. Authorities confirmed that two injured victims, both inside vehicles struck by the Mercedes, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Officials also verified that the driver had no alcohol in his system, tested negative for drugs, and had no known history of psychiatric treatment at the time of the incident.
