Two area Lions Club chapters donated 13 wheelchairs to disabled residents from nine local neighborhoods.

Somyot Kotkhen, president of the Lions Club of Pratamnak, and Sattakhun Duangdara, president of the Lions Club of Naklua, joined doctors and staff of the Banglamung Hospital Sept. 4 at the Old Naklua Market for the presentation ceremony.

Wheelchairs went to residents of the Old Naklua Market, Ton Krabok Surao, Haa Thunwa, Nongyai, Nongtabaek, Chaiyapruek, Wat Bunyakanchanaram, Sai Thappraya communities and Pattaya’s “Doctors at Home” project.

“Donating wheelchairs to disabled patients is another activity of the Lions Club that is held every month as the Lions want to help society and have conducted many activities, whether is building Pattaya’s library and installing water filters for schools in the city and donating scholarships to students,” Somyot said.

Lions representatives said the donation was necessary as many people do not have easy access to hospitals. Banglamung Hospital, they said, has dispatched mobile units to various communities in Pattaya to collect information regarding patients who are too poor to afford their own chairs. The hospital then requested help from the Lions Club.
