Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet chairs an October 9 meeting with city officials and emergency agencies to prepare for heavy rain forecast from October 10 to 13.

PATTAYA, Thailand – With October bringing a change in the rainy season, Pattaya City is keeping flood-prone roads and coastal areas under close watch, ready to respond if heavy downpours return.

Mayor Poramet Ngampichet chaired a preparedness meeting at Pattaya City Hall on October 9, bringing together city officials, police, Banglamung district authorities and emergency teams ahead of a forecast period of heavy to very heavy rain from October 10 to 13.

Officials are monitoring known trouble spots, including Railway Road, Khao Talo intersection, Sukhumvit Road near South Pattaya intersection and Third Road near the Mum Aroi intersection. Teams have been told to prepare vehicles and equipment, check drainage and arrange traffic diversions if flooding disrupts travel. The city is also checking large trees and billboards that could become dangerous in strong winds, while monitoring sea conditions around Pattaya and Koh Larn in case boat services need to be suspended.

Pattaya is coordinating with beach chair operators to keep drainage channels clear along the beachfront. Residents and visitors who need assistance or sandbags to protect their properties can call Pattaya Contact Center 1337, available 24 hours a day. The message from City Hall is simple: even when the rain lets up, the city is not letting its guard down.
