A mother was hurt while shielding her 9-month-old infant when the motorbike they and the child’s father were riding was hit by a car in Sattahip.

Jirada Saenghieng, 18, suffered broken bones in the Aug. 8 crash, but the child was unhurt.

The child’s father, and driver of the motorbike on which the three were riding, said he had done a U-turn near the intersection of the Navy Battle Squadron when a car driven by Sakorn Ansen, 35, rammed into them.

Sakorn was unhurt.

Jirada told police that she knew the unprotected child could have been killed while the entire family rode on the same bike, so she sacrificed her body to save the baby.
