Chonburi Immigration Police officials met with representatives from about 100 area hotels to remind them of the need to report check-ins of foreign tourists.

Lt. Gen. Phanu Kerlappol told the hotel executives at the Nov. 8 meeting in Jomtien Beach that reporting was a key to solving crimes such as credit card fraud, burglary, visa overstaying and drug peddling perpetrated by foreigners.

He explained that hotels need not report personally to immigration, but can upload data files online.
