Huay Yai police practiced their response to a gold shop robbery amid a recent spurt of holdups.
Pol. Lt. Col. Pichet Wattano led the Feb. 10 exercise involving patrol and investigation officers, which also targeted stickups at convenience stores.
The scenario began with the thief parking his motorbike in front of the targeted business. Inside, the robber threatened the clerk with a knife and gun to get the cash and gold. Then the perpetrator made his escape.
Once notified, police dispatched patrol officers to find the fleeing robber while investigators interviewed witnesses and collected evidence, such as security camera footage.
In the case of a robbery, police urged business owners to remain calm and remember what the thieves looked like and which way they fled.
